The immediate goals of Zoo Peru Inc. is to naturally improve the environment and living conditions of the animals who reside at the Quistococha Zoo. This inturn will then lead to increased natural mental and physical stimulation of the animals at the zoo and a greater appreciation by our visitors as to how the animals may behave in the wide.
While
our immediate goal is to improve the living circumstances under which
the resident animals exist, the development of cultural sensitivity is
imperative. Our long-term goal is to train and educate the community regarding
the importance of conserving their environmental resources, the consequence
of loss of habitat and how this potential loss will create a pyramidal
effect ultimately and inevitably destroying all that the conservation
of this region has to offer their lives, their community
and the world.
Redevelopment
of Quistococha will enable patrons to experience an immersion into a rainforest,
one of the most diversified in the world, where animals can be observed
in their natural setting. This will allow visitors to gain an increased
comprehension, pride and respect for this most precious resource.
Zoo Peru will also provide for zookeepers and employees of zoos worldwide,
a forum and training ground from which to learn, work with and help to
overcome problems associated with husbandry of animals and zoo management
within developing countries. It is our further intention to develop a
multi-disciplinary approach designed to assist us in bringing our goals
into fruition.
